Sydney's First Day of Swim Lessons
Sydney's been pretty excited all week about her swim lessons which began today. All that changed, though, the first time the instructor dunked her under the water. As soon as she came up, she was clearly stunned and cried fearfully. Now, Sydney has gone underwater plenty of times at the pool last summer AND in the bathtub. I think this sudden "plunge" into the water, though, by the instructor just caught her completely off guard. From that moment on, she was very timid to do anything the instructor wanted her to do but, she DID reluctantly participate and follow instructions.
Next Saturday, upon the request of the instructor, I will leave the pool area during the swim lesson.
Now, on to Sarah's latest accomplishment. Sydney likes to say, "Mom, count to 10 and I will hide." I do as she asks. However, a couple of days ago, Sydney asked Sarah to count to 10 while she goes to hide. I was shocked when Sarah counted to 8! I didn't even know she could count to 2! It wasn't a fluke, either. She counted to 8 a second time. Since then, I've heard her count to 5 and sometimes she'll start counting at 6 and go up to 10. It's always amazing to see the things that toddlers pick up on when you don't realize how well they really pay attention to what's going on around them.
Sarah's latest phrase (which will drive you crazy by the end of the day) is "What happened?" She asks that question about ANYTHING! If I sneeze she asks, "What happened?" Even when SHE sneezed the other day she asked, "What happened?" She also likes to ask, "You tired?" everytime she sees or hears me yawn (which is pretty much all day long everyday!)
Those are the latest happenings around here. Yes, we lead a pretty hum-drum life. But, when you have two toddlers, who has time for anything else? Oh, I AM going to take Sydney to her first, official movie at the theatre tomorrow. I took both girls to a children's matinee last summer but that was for kids only and doesn't really count as a REAL movie outing. So, Syd and I are going to see Curious George. Everytime they show the movie trailer on TV she says, "I want to watch THAT show." So, I think she'll enjoy seeing it on the big screen.
